We are trying a different approach to VBS this year. Pastor and Daphne volunteered to host our first venture of a backyard VBS this summer with their neighborhood children. We would like to have another week of VBS in July or August at a different home and invite the grandchildren and friends of our church family. In this way we will reach more children and save on costs of renting equipment as well as providing security on our property.
Additionally, we will need less volunteers than a traditional VBS. If you would like to host or volunteer as a leader please contact me and let me know your availability.
Below are areas of need for a second or third VBS and a list of items we are looking to borrow.
Our theme is Jesus' love provides a foundation that lasts! As always our most important area of need is prayer. Would you pray for this new summer ministry?
Areas of need for a later VBS:
- Bible lesson
- Snacks-This does not require staying for the VBS
Do you have and may we borrow?
- paint buckets (2 needed)
- construction cones
- hex nuts
- nuts and bolts-enough to make matching sets
- hula hoops (we have 2 but could use several more for games)
- box fan
Children's Health Kits
Our new mission project is the Health Kits for children in a shelter. We need to do at least 50 of them.
Recently our church was asked to provide children's health kits (towel, washcloth, shampoo, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, underwear, coloring book and crayons or reading book) for a homeless shelter in Baltimore. All items should be "children's". Underwear is for small children--toddlers and up. Plastic bags with a list of items needed are available.
If you prefer to make a monetary donation, be sure to mark your envelope or check "Baltimore health kits".
Questions--call Judy Neyhart (302)359-3703 or Donna Phillips (302)697-6060.
Deadline is Sunday, June 13th.

Other Mission Projects at NHBC
Other mission projects during the year involve Operation Christmas Child that is a partnership with Samaritan's Purse to send Christmas gifts in the name of Jesus to children around the world. Also at Christmas, the ladies of the church make Christmas stockings to give out to individuals at the Men's Interfaith Mission and Christmas Purses to give out to the women in the new Interfaith Building. Our church is also involved in collecting supplies for the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
